PLUMSTONE MOUNTAIN

Part of the rocky dragon's back that runs inland from Roch across North Pembrokeshire, Plumstone Mountain is a dramatic jumble of rhyolite blocks that cries out to be climbed on. Thirty years ago the Open Spaces Society ( Britain's oldest national conservation body) won an access victory here over farmers who were unlawfully fencing-off common land... and it is known locally as a mountain, even though it's only 170m above sea level.
